World Disability Billiards & Snooker (WDBS) is pleased to confirm the calendar for the remainder of 2024 which features an exciting new event, the European Disability Snooker Championship, to be held in Portugal in October.
The new event will be held alongside October’s EBSA European Championship, with details of the dates, venue and format to be confirmed in due course.
Additionally, a trio of ranking events across three countries – the German Open, UK Championship and Irish Open – will all return for the 2024/25 season.
As during the 2023/24 season, all tournaments will be open to players from all eight WDBS classification groups.
Following a successful maiden event last season, the German Open will return to the accessible and fully air-conditioned SC Breakers in Rüsselsheim, located near Frankfurt in Germany, on 2-4 August 2024.
The location is easily accessible by air, only 15-20 minutes from Frankfurt International Airport, while the city itself is approximately 30 minutes away by train.
Barratts in Northampton will once again play host to the WDBS’s longest-running and most prestigious ranking event on 13-15 September.
First held in 2015, the UK Championship has roots dating back to the inaugural Open Disability Snooker Championship and will once again be hosted by the Northamptonshire venue which boasts 20 full-size snooker tables.
The inaugural European Disability Championship will be held in October alongside the EBSA European Championships.
The event represents another major step forward in the global expansion of the WDBS Tour, which is a key step for the organisation as it looks to secure the long-term return of snooker to the Paralympic Games.
Details of the dates, venue and format will be confirmed in due course via the WDBS website and social media channels.
The final WDBS event of 2024 sees the tour return to Ireland from 29 November – 1 December, following a successful first staging of the Irish Open in 2023.
SBI HQ in Carlow, situated approximately one hour away from Dublin and accessible via air or ferry, will once again play host to the event and is supported by Snooker & Billiards Ireland Chairman and WDBS group seven player Dylan Rees.
Full information, including entry packs, travel advice, hotel recommendations and how to enter, will be published in due course.
