Bio

Gary Swift made history for disability snooker in December 2023 by becoming one of the first gold medalists in the sport at the World Abilitysport Games and followed this up in March 2025 by becoming Group 1’s first ever world champion.

In an event that saw snooker represented in a multi-sport games for the first time since the 1988 Paralympic Games, Swift stormed to a first place finish in Group 1 with a 3-1 victory over Kurt Deklerck, Belgium’s greatest ever wheelchair snooker player, in the gold medal match.

Sixteen months later, Swift returned to Thailand to once again make history by defeating Numpol Thongpusawan 3-1 in the final of the first ever World Disability Snooker Championship.

From Sheffield in England, Swift won his first WDBS title on debut at the 2022 Stockport Open and has also reached the final at the 2023 Hull Open, 2023 and 2024 UK Disability Championship’s and the 2024 Champion of Champions.

Swift’s consistent performances since joining the tour have seen him rise as high as second in the Group 1+2 world rankings.
