World Disability Billiards and Snooker (WDBS) has announced that Player Director and multiple Group 5 tournament winner Mickey Chambers has left the Board.
Chambers joined the WDBS Tour as a player at the 2018 Northern Classic and has to date enjoyed considerable success, winning each of the 10 Group 5 ranking events that he contested through to the 2023 British Open, as well as the 2019 Champion of Champions.
With a varied background which included his experience from within amputee football having competed at the highest level for two decades and represented his country with distinction, Chambers was appointed to the Board in April 2021.
During his time on the Board, he played an important role as WDBS competitions returned following the lifting of lockdown restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic and he also represented WDBS during multiple media engagements, including on World Disability Day during the professional World Championship coverage on the BBC.
Nigel Mawer QPM, WDBS Chairman said: “I would like to thank Mickey for his contribution to WDBS during the past three and a half years. In particular, he represented our players fantastically as part of the BBC’s coverage of World Disability Snooker Day on several occasions.
“I would like to wish Mickey all the best and hope to welcome him back to the Tour as a player in the future.”
