Derby Welcomes WDBS
World Disability Billiards and Snooker will stage its second event of 2017 this weekend at the Cueball Derby, England.
The WDBS Paul Hunter Disability Classic is set to see a record number of entrants in both its Group 7 (visual impairments) and Group 8 (hearing impairments), building upon the successful Hull Open held for those classification groups in November last year.
As at the recent Manchester Classic, there will also be a Learning Disability Snooker Day held for Group 6 players on the Friday, alongside the tournament’s regular open day at which players with any disability
The event will be supported by the Paul Hunter Foundation, who as title sponsors have made a significant contribution towards the total prize fund. The Foundation was established in 2006 in memory of three-time Masters champion Paul Hunter with the specific aim of giving disadvantaged, able bodied and disabled youngsters an opportunity to play snooker. Over the past decade, the Foundation has raised over £550,000, delivering over 580 live roadshows to over 10,000 children across 160 different communities within the UK. It has also donated over 2,750 cased cues, installed 12 full-size snooker tables into the community and repaired over 100 tables.
Also supporting the event are J&S Trading, title sponsors of our previous WDBS event in Manchester back in March.
